The Biden Education Department Has Put a Pause On Accepting New Student Loan Relief Applications Following A Recent Court Ruling… But Look Out For Updates

The Biden administration has paused accepting applications as part of the student loan forgiveness program following a recent court order that annulled the plan. Myra Brown and Alexander Taylor, two student loan borrowers, claimed they were left out of the debt relief program in their lawsuit. Myra didn’t qualify because she had commercially-held loans and Alexander didn’t qualify for the full $20,000 because he didn’t receive a Pell Grant. They claimed that issuing extensive student-loan forgiveness without going through the usual rulemaking process violated the Administrative Procedure Act’s procedure. This process requires an unelected administrator to defend rulemaking to the public. The  Biden Administration plans to appeal the ruling to a higher court in hopes of having the court order overturned.  Stand by for updates.
