The Education Department just launched the student loan debt forgiveness program on their website.  Since the program is new, it may be down intermittently as the Department refines the student loan debt relief program. The application is real and borrowers are encouraged to apply by November 15, 2023 (but no later than Dec. 31, 2023).
Please note that no debt will actually be cancelled before October 23, 2022. Applying now will get borrowers in the queue for when applications are processed and increase the odds that their cancellation will be delivered before the end of the payment pause.
Who qualifies?
Individuals who made less than $125,000 in 2021 or 2020
Families that made less than $250,000 in 2021 or 2020
